In the entertainment industry, it sometime seem so hard to get a break. Now with the explosion of Internet based commerce, there is a viable way for an independent musician or band to get significant kudos and airplay around the world.
The major music labels have extensive distribution and marketing channels that comprise a large percentage of the contractual fees and payments as part of an artist being signed to them. These days, however, you can do so through services like Amazon.com and other book, music and arts related websites.
I do believe this is one of the better ways of getting your art out there and into the hands of your fans. It guarantees you a marketing channel that is aimed towards a similar level of professionalism and scale to most of the major music labels.
